The Ambassador

Her Excellency Mrs. Jennifer Lartey was on 1st February, 2019 appointed by the first gentleman of the land, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s first resident Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway.

Ghana has enjoyed diplomatic relations with Norway dating back to the 1970s but formally opened its Embassy in November of 2018. This was to afford Ghana the opportunity to learn from Norway, the latest technologies, all the know-hows, best practices and ways and methods it has been able to manage natural resources to the utmost benefit of both the economy and its citizenry.

Ambassador Lartey was a former Director for the Administration and Human Resource Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration having served in that capacity from 2017 until her appointment as an Ambassador.

She was also a Director for the Asia and Pacific Bureau of the same Ministry from 2015 to 2017. Having joined the Ministry in 2002, Ambassador Lartey has served successfully at Ghana’s Missions in Washington D.C where she was the Minister-Counselor in charge of Economic Affairs and our New Delhi Mission where she was also the Minister-Counselor as well as the Head of Chancery.

She also worked with the Ministry of Education under the Primary Education Programme (PREP) as an Assistant Project Officer and was until joining the Ministry, a recruitment Manager with Landmark Recruitment Agency.

She attended Mfantsiman Girls Secondary School before proceeding to the University of Ghana in 1986 where she studied English and Linguistics for her undergraduate degree. Additionally, Ambassador Lartey has under her education sleeve, a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Ghana and an LLB from the prestigious University of London.

Her Excellency is married to Mr. Steve Lartey, a financial analyst and have three (3) children; Emelia, Kobby and Kwadwo and one grandson, Calvin Arthur McCoy IV.
